Ireland today drew 1-1 with Cameroon, in a match many thought was destined to be a loss for Ireland. A Matt Holland goal secured...
A fine goal by Ipswich’s Matt Holland made sure Ireland took a point away from this match that many thought they would loose. A 39th minute goal by Cameroon meant that Ireland had to fight for the remainder of the half.
However, once the second half had begun, and McAteer had been subbed off for Finnan, Ireland took total control of the game. Holland took a goal out of a messy challenge, and then later, Robbie Keane was denied a winning goal by the fact that the ball apparently did not cross the line fully.
Mark Kinsella was awarded Man of the match by RTÉ TV for his outstanding performance in the midfield
