Barnsley Team v Crawley

  Who Would You Pick?       Barnsley travel to Crawley on Saturday having dispensed with the services of manager Danny Wilson. So who should Mark Burton and Paul Heckingbottom select in their first game in temporary charge of the team?  

I think with the players we have available it is time to give 3-5-2 a try. My team would be:

GK Turnbull

CB Cranie

CB Ramage

CB Nyatanga

RWB Holgate

LWB Smith

CM   Scowen

CM   Pearson

CM   Berry

ST   Oates      

ST   Lita

 

Subs

Davies

Mvoto

Hourihane

Lalkovic

Jennings

Waring

Digby

 

The above team is on the assumption that Winnall isn’t fit.

 

The midfield may look a bit negative to some but at least all three have the energy to get up and down and give the tempo that we have lacked for much of the season. Scowen and Pearson have been the only players to come out of our recent run with any credit, whilst Berry was unlucky to have been sacrificed to begin with.

 

Hourihane definitely needs dropping and could be used as an impact sub as can the likes of Lalkovic and Jennings. Lalkovic has shown flashes so far but no consistency and Jennings just need to get himself fit.

 

Waring and Hemmings have done nothing up front to keep their places. I would dump Hemmings from the squad completely along with Kiwomya who possibly should be a runner rather than a footballer.

 

Oates could do no worse than Hemmings and Waring have so I would like to see him given a run of games to show what he can do. The other two have had opportunities so why not give the opportunity to our home grown talent?

 

I also think that Lita has been unlucky not to have played a bit more. Not because he has done anything special so far at Oakwell but simply because of how bad the others have been. I’m confident that he would have scored a lot more goals than Hemmings if given the starts that Hemmings has had in recent weeks.

 

I’m sure many fans will disagree with the above team both in terms of personnel and formation so would you like to see in the team at Crawley and what formation would you like to see used?
