Bristol City 3 – 1 Barnsley

  So as most reds fans feared/expected, the season opener ended in what can only be described as a drubbing for Barnsley at Bristol City.  

A consolation goal in the 93rd minute made the score look a bit more respectable but Bristol City could have had more than the three goal lead which they had at half time.

 

Is this a blip for the reds or a sign of things to come?

 

Unless we get some Championship quality players in then I’m afraid this could be a long hard season for the reds.

 

I have no doubt that this group of players will give their all and that the management and coaching staff will prepare them adequately all season but it is a big ask for the many new signings to gel and have the quality to produce winning performances when all are new to Championship standard football.

 

Morecombe are next up at Oakwell in the League cup and a win in this one is badly needed given the defeats to lower league opposition in pre-season coupled with the performance at Bristol City.

 

I can’t see many reds fans turning up to that one but I urge everyone to get behind them in our home games as they need our support more than ever this season.
