The Reds Revival

If someone had told me at the beginning of December that going in to the New Year Barnsley would be off the foot of the table and only in the drop zone on goal difference, I would have said that person was crazy.

Yet here we are on New Year’s Eve and that is what has happened.

I, like many others were of the opinion that Pep, Ferguson, Wenger etc. would have all struggled to get this squad anywhere near safety in the very competitive Championship.

Yet in comes new boss Struber and the fortunes of the club have turned. The fans have quickly forgotten about the previous manager, whatever his name was, despite the massive backlash the club received when he was sacked. Many even boycotting games due to the manner in which the board dealt with it.

January is yet another test for the board to convince the fans that they have the best interests of the club at heart and are not just at Oakwell to simply line their pockets.

For Barnsley to survive they need to bring in a couple of experienced campaigners in this transfer window as well as keep hold of prized assets such as Mowatt and Woodrow.

If the board were to cash in on either of the above with the club in such a precarious position then they would lose a lot of the fan base whether they stay up or not.

January could be make or break for this board.
