Barnsley visit Peterborough in FA Cup Round Two

Barnsley will be hoping to advance to the third round of the FA Cup and potentially face Premier League opposition when they visit Peterborough at 3pm on Saturday.  

Barnsley will be hoping to bounce back from a 5-0 defeat away at Port Vale that saw them crash out of the EFL Trophy.

 

Conor Hourihane confirmed Marc Roberts and Josh Earl will miss the game on Saturday.

 

Roberts came off against Port Vale with a groin injury.

 

Hourihane also said that Nathanael Ogbeta will most likely miss the game after not being involved in the squad on Tuesday.

 

The Barnsley head coach also said Georgie Gent and Fabio Jalo may be involved on Saturday in some capacity.

 

As for the opposition, Peterborough experienced a mini-revival when Luke Williams replaced Darren Ferguson in late October, winning four games in a row in all competitions.

 

However, they have lost three games in a row including a defeat away at Swindon on Tuesday in the EFL Trophy.

 

The Posh finished 18th last season, after back-to-back play-off finishes in which they lost in the semi-final both times.

 

They won back-to-back EFL Trophies after defeating Wycombe in 2024 and Birmingham in 2025 in the final.

 

Hourihane is expected to rotate the side, placing an importance on upcoming league fixtures against Lincoln and Leyton Orient.
