Barnsley have cancelled the loan of winger Caylan Vickers who will return to Premier League outfit Brighton and Hove Albion.
The 21-year-old showed real promise at the start of the season and scored two goals in August against Burton and Peterborough.
However, he was reduced to limited game time recently and was an unused substitute in the last two games.
Vickers played 22 times for Barnsley in all competitions, which included 15 times in League One.
Conor Hourihane has said he wants to bring in some new attackers, which would reduce the youngsters game time, which wouldn’t benefit his career.
When watching Caylan Vickers, you can see his top-level development in the way he retains possession and looks very comfortable whilst dribbling.
However, it seems Hourihane would favour a more direct winger that constantly wants to take on his fullback, which Vickers isn’t.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see Vickers sent on-loan to another League One club, as the winger would be very useful for a possession-based side.
