Barnsley host Bradford

The Reds claimed four points from two away trips to now-relegated Rotherham and relegation threatened Port Vale. 

Barnsley currently occupy 12th place in League One, eight points above the bottom four and 12 points below the top six, with five games remaining. 

In terms of injury news, head coach Conor Hourihane said Mael De Gevigney should be available for Saturday, whilst David McGoldrick might make the bench. 

Hourihane said: “We think that Mael will be OK. He’s being assessed day by day to see how much the wound has closed up. But we think that he'll be very close to being available for the game 

“If we could get Didzy involved for the last half an hour or so, it would be a great boost. We'll have to assess him over the next couple of days because it will be a close one whether he makes it. I'm hopeful just as much as he is.” 

Hourihane also said youngster Charlie Lennon could be given more minutes in the last five games of the season. 

The Reds head coach said: “He’s just not quite getting in there at the minute. I am keen to get Charlie minutes as these next five games come about. Whether it comes sooner rather than later, obviously time will tell on that. He's been fantastic since coming in the building. He's been a real livewire in training and he has just found it really difficult to get to get minutes. We all knew that it would take a little bit of time and his time will come.” 

As for opponents Bradford, they are bringing 5,000 away fans from West Yorkshire to Oakwell which should make for a loud atmosphere on Saturday lunchtime. 

The Bantams are currently 4th and seven points clear of 7th placed Luton Town with four game remaining, so will be looking to secure a play-off place. 

They have carried the momentum that saw them get promoted from League Two last season, with their home form being the second-best in the division. 

Bradford have the 10th best away record in League One and did win away at Wycombe in their last away game. 

They lost 1-0 at home to Stevenage on Saturday and did not play midweek unlike Barnsley. 

The Bantams are managed by Graham Alexander, who has been in charge since November 2023. 

Bradford have former Barnsley player Stephen Humphyrs, who scored in the reverse fixture at Valley Parade in October, which ended 2-2. 

Reds’ defender Jack Shepherd was on loan at Bradford last season and played 39 times in League Two as they gained automatic promotion. 

The two sides have faced off 111 times, with Barnsley winning 41 matches and losing 38.
