Barnsley host Stockport

The Reds head coach is set to depart after the weekend following a mutual decision to part ways which was agreed with the club. 

The search for a new Head Coach is still underway behind the scenes. 

Barnsley currently sit 13th following a midweek win against bottom-club Northampton and could still finish in the top half if they beat The Hatters and Wycombe fail to beat Rotherham. 

In terms of team news, Hourihane said that Adam Phillips is expected to play having recently suffered with an ankle problem. 

On Tom Bradshaw, Conor Hourihane said: “Bradders will be one that we'll have to assess over the next couple of days. Nothing major, no scan needed or anything like that. But will he be fit enough to make the bench? Realistically that is probably his best scenario.” 

Marc Roberts is expected to play a part in the game, and Charlie Lennon will be in the squad too. 

As for Stockport, they travel to Oakwell with something to play for as they need at least a point to guarantee to a play-off place. 

The Hatters currently sit 4th on 74 points and are three points clear of 7th placed Luton Town with the same goal difference. 

They lost 2-1 at home to already-relegated Port Vale midweek, a game in which Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was in attendance. 

Stockport are managed by Dave Challinor, who has been in charge since November 2021 and has never finished below a play-off place in a season while leading The Hatters.

The two sides faced off earlier in the season at Edgeley Park in November, which ended in a 1-1 draw. 

Barnsley and Stockport have faced off 96 times over the years, with The Reds winning 32 and losing 30.
