Irish defender leaves Rovers on loan

Bristol Rovers left back Trevor Clarke has left Rovers to rejoin his former club Shamrock Rovers.

The 24 year old moves back to the League of Ireland Premier side on loan which will see the Irishman remain with the club until November 2023. After orignally falling out with Manager Joey Barton towards the start of the season and was frozen out from the squad he worked his way back into contention going on to make 15 appearances and scoring once in the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace in the Papa Johns Trophy.

The move sees Clarke return to the club that he made 80 appearances for before joining Rotherham in the summer of 2019, Clarked moved to Bristol Rovers in July 2021. His first season was dogged by injury, so it was a suprise when Barton offered Clarke a new one year deal at the start of the season. In total the left back made 24 appearances for Rovers over one and a half seasons.
