European qualfication confirmed

Dundee United's Scottish Cup triumph yesterday confirmed a Europa League place for Motherwell next season.

After a week of waiting Motherwell's Europa League qualification has now been confirmed thanks to Dundee Utd winning the Scottish Cup and ensuring Ross County wouldn't make it through.

This will mean a slightly early start for everybody again, with the first game coming only four days after the World Cup final on Thrusday 15th July. The draw taking place on Monday 21st June for the Second Qualification round.

Many have said we have needed help from United to qualify but I see it more that we finished as the fifth best team in the country and deserve to be there rather than Ross County sneaking in as Scottish Cup Runners up.

Having said that I am not sure that this is such a good thing for us given the impact of the early start on the end of this season. It will only mean anything if we can play the game(s) at Fir Park and not Airdrie and then get a game against someone worth playing.

Three years in a row in Europe is not bad for a team from one of the smallest towns in the SPL.
