Motherwell off to Iceland

The draw for the second qualifying round for the Europa League paired Motherwell with Icelandic side Breiðablik

The first leg will be played on the new surface at Fir Park on Thursday 15th July, with the second leg a week later in Ieland on Thursday 22nd July.

The Icelanders are currently taking part in their League campaign and find themselves second in the table after only 8 games. This should mean they will be match sharp by the time they travel to Scotland.

Motherwell on the other hand will have had three friendlies agains Brechin, Forfar and Ayr Utd before heading into the games.

I am not going to make any predictions about this tie, we have seen what can happen this early in the tournament - losses at home to Llanelli and Mypa 47!

Hopefully we an repeat what we did with Havnar Boltfelag and put the tie beyond doubt in the first leg and make the trip to Iceland academic. This is made more in hope than expetation as I know nothing about our opponents or the Icelandic League (if ignorance is good enough for Alan Shearer and co, it's good enough for me!!).
