Now to win at home...

After winning away from home again at Inverness at the weekend it is now time to win at home against St. Johnstone on Wednesday.

Motherwell have reached third in the table without having produced any great form at home, having lost three of six at home. On the other hand they have lost only one of five away from home.

This is a bit of a trend in the SPL this season, but Motherwell are probably built to win away from home with the counter attacking style that Craig Brown has adopted.

At home they have been beaten by Hibs and Hamilton as well as Celtic. The former two were when they were allowed to sit in and hit Motherwell on the break.

Even the draw at home with Aberdeen was the same with the Dons sitting in and looking to soak things up and then hit on the break.

This is in a large part a great tribute to Motherwell that teams now come to Fir Park looking to sit in and take a point and if they win that is a bonus.

This is something Motherwell need to deal with and come up with a plan to overcome this.

Given many believe that they have the best front four out of the Old Firm this should surely be possible. The pace of Humphrey, Blackman and Murphy will cause problems for any defence.

Let’s hope they can unlock the Saints defence as easily as they did at Perth early in the season, when Humphrey gave Grainger at left back a real time.

Now to win at home...
