Well hammered by Rangers
Well v Rangers

There was no Boxing Day cheer for Motherwell as they were dismantled by Champions Rangers at Fir Park.
Motherwell were on the back from the start and they had to survive two efforts cleared off the line. Firstly Mark Reynolds cleared a Naismith header on to his own cross bar, then Keith Lasley was on hand to kick a Naismith shot from close range off the line.
They then went on to lose four of the poorest goals we have lost in a long time.
The first saw Bougherra allowed too much time to stroll down the right before picking out an unmarked Miller who slid home from close range.
The second came from a Weiss free kick which should have been dealt with in the middle of the defence before it reached Steven Saunders who couldn’t get out of the way as the ball hit him and bounced into his own net.
Despite pulling one back from John Sutton, after disastrous Rangers defending, we threw away two more to ensure we suffered our second 4-1 defeat to Rangers this season.
For the third goal we gave too much time to Bougherra to clear to Davis who was allowed to turn in midfield before picking out Weiss who was allowed to waltz through unchallenged to blast past Randolph.
The fourth was another disaster as Miller was allowed to force a free kick from Weiss past Randolph under no kind of challenge at all.
It was the poorest performance of the season from Well and if our season isn’t to just fizzle out we need to arrest this as soon as possible. There appears to be no real direction in the team since Brown and Knox left and this also needs to be sorted ASAP.
