Another away draw in the Scottish Cup

Our reward for the win over Stranraer yesterday is a tip to Tannadice to take on Dundee Utd.

It is hardly a surprise we have been drawn away from home once again, this is the fifth cup draw we have been in this season and this is the fourth away draw. Strangely the only home draw was against Dundee Utd in the League Cup quarter final which was won by an Alan Gow goal.

The plus side is we avoided the winner of the Old Firm tie but didn’t get drawn at home to Brechin!!

But if we are to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our last Cup win we are going to have to do it the hard way, without having been drawn at Fir Park in any of the rounds.

There was always a chance we could get drawn against an SPL club with potentially seven of them in the hat (or glass bowl) and we need to make sure we are at our best on the day as this tie is winnable and we could be back at Hampden before you know it.

The last time we met United in the Cup was back in 2001 and United won 2-0 at Fir Park thanks to goals from Charlie Miller and Craig Easton.

The full draw is;

Motherwell v Dundee Utd

Brechin City v St. Johnstone or Partick Thistle

Inverness v Rangers or Celtic

St. Mirren v Aberdeen

Ties to be played weekend of 12th or 13th March
