Two Well players have been called up for International duty for next weekend.
The two players are at different ends of their career, Stephen Craigan has been called up for what could be his 54th and 55th caps for Northern Ireland, while keeper Darren Randolph get his first call up for the Republic of Ireland.
Randolph has proved an excellent signing since coming North from Charlton in the summer. He has made the keeper’s jersey his own and has helped us all forget about the departed John Ruddy.
The popular Irishman has also managed to beat the record of clean sheets set by Ruddy last season, with 16 to his name. One of the best moves was getting the big man signed on a three year deal, with two years of that still to go.
He has already played for his country at every level right through to Under 21 plus a B cap against Scotland.
Well skipper Craigan is getting close to the end of his International career but this has not diminished his enthusiasm for playing for his country, and he will give his normal 100% performance when he lines up against Serbia and Slovenia.
The call ups could still cause problems for our Cup replay with Dundee Utd, as the second game of their campaigns are scheduled for the same night as the Cup game. Lets hope common sense prevails and the replay is moved to allow both sides to be at full strength.
