After 54 Caps and eight years playing for Northern Ireland Well skipper Stephen Craigan has ended his International career.

On his decision to retire the Well skipper said, "It has been a wonderful journey and I have loved every minute playing for my country.

"It's been a privilege playing in front of the Green and White Army, who have been amazing in my time with the team."

He added: "I would like to thank everyone for their support and wish Nigel and the team all the very best in the up and coming Euro 2012 qualifiers."

Craigan made his last Northern Ireland appearance in March in a Euro 2012 qualifier at Windsor Park against Slovenia.

He has featured in a couple of historic wins for his country back in 2005 he helped them defeat England and then a year later Spain. These sides included Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney and Raul.

Hopefully this decision will allow Stephen to concentrate on his club career at Fir Park.
