England v West Indies - Twenty 20 @ Trent Bridge

There maybe the small matter of a football match going off somewhere, but England's cricketers have an important match of their own, with the Twenty20 clash with the West Indies at Trent Bridge......

It is the start of an important year in the shortest form of the game for England, who will look to defend their T20 crown later this year, in Sri Lanka, so the clash with the West Indies is important in its own right.

Captain Stuart Broad said ahead of the game, which gets underway at 2.30pm at Trent Bridge "The squad has changed quite a lot since the World Twenty20, but as England players we are very proud of that title and we want to keep it"

"We have quite a short period of time and a short number of games until that World Cup, so you want to make as much use of that as possible when we get the chance"

"We are going to be a hugely inexperienced side going there to the sub-continent conditions, so we are not expecting the world, but we are going with a hugely talented squad and you know in T20 cricket it only takes two guys, like in 2010 KP and Kieswetter, who smashed it at the top and we won the tournament." He concluded.

Whilst most focus has been on Kevin Pietersen's omission due to his decision to leave the one day set up, it will be interesting to see the young guns, such as Jos Butler, Alex Hales, and Jonny Bairstow, step up to the mantle of filling his shoes.
