Rain Ruins England's Bid

England and Australia saw their 3rd ODI match of the five game series, washed out at Edgbaston, and with it, England's bid for number one ranked status in all forms of the game, also went down the drain....

The day night game in Birmingham, had been reduced to 28 overs come mid afternoon, due to constant rain, but a 18:00 start time for the reduced game, was also a no go, as the rain returned to leave 20,000 supporters frustrated by the days events.

It is the second time this summer, that Edgbaston has suffered due to the elements, with the test match against the West Indies having huge chunks lost to the game, with the match petering out to a tame draw.

The two sides will try again on Saturday, in Durham, with the visitors only able to draw the series now, with England currently leading 2-0.
