Pietersen Left Out of India Tour

Kevin Pietersen has been left out of the England squad to tour India this winter, with uncapped players, Joe Root and Nick Compton called up after superb summers for their respective counties.....
Pietersen who is said to 'natuarally disapointed', has been left out, despite talks ongoing between himself, his advisors and the ECB over the text row, which led to him being left out of the final test squad to play South Africa at Lord's.
His omission has opened the door for Somerset's Nick Compton, who scored 1,191 runs this season for his county, and who is the grandson of former England great Denis Compton.
The call up of Joe Root, was probably more expected, given the decision by Andrew Strauss to step down as England skipper, just a few weeks ago. It left a gap at the top of the order, alongside new skipper Alastair Cook, with Root now in pole position to open the innings.
Craig Kiewestter was expected to be called up to the test squad, after some fine one day performances, but has been overlooked, with no reserve keeper in name being announced, although Jonny Bairstow would take the gloves, should anything happen to Matt Prior.
In the spinning department, both Monty Panesar and Samit Patel have been announced in the squad, alongside Graeme Swann, who continues to fight his elbow injury, which forced him to miss the later part of the one day series against South Africa.
SQUAD: Alastair Cook, James Anderson, Jonny Bairstow, Ian Bell, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Nick Compton, Steven Finn, Graham Onions, Eoin Morgan, Monty Panesar, Samit Patel, Matt Prior, Joe Root, Graeme Swann, Jonathan Trott.
There is a performance squad, which will mirror the full squad, in terms of touring India from mid November, and who will act as cover for any injuries.
The squad includes Nottinghamshire's James Taylor, who is overlooked for the full squad.
England Performance Programme squad: Jos Buttler (Somerset), Gary Ballance (Yorkshire), Scott Borthwick (Durham), Danny Briggs (Hampshire), Varun Chopra (Warwickshire), Matthew Coles (Kent), Jade Dernbach (Surrey), Ben Foakes (Essex), James Harris (Glamorgan), Simon Kerrigan (Lancashire), Craig Kieswetter (Somerset), Stuart Meaker (Surrey), Azeem Rafiq (Yorkshire), Toby Roland-Jones (Middlesex), Ben Stokes (Durham), James Taylor (Nottinghamshire), Chris Wright (Warwickshire).
