Compton Not Giving In

England opener Nick Compton has not given up hope of featuring in the upcoming Ashes Series, despite being left out of the four day warm up match with Essex. He showed that he can battle with the Aussies, with a well made 81 against them in the tourist match in Taunton....

And the right hander, who scored back to back hundreds in New Zealand at the start of his international career, will get another chance to face Australia, when he is 'loaned' out to Worecestershire as they face the tourists in the final warm up game ahead of the opening test match.

"Hopefully I'll get an opportunity in the series," Compton told BBC Sport.

"It's been a tough week but you have to dust yourself off," he said

"There's no point crying over spilt milk - as much as it was upsetting and a bit of a shock, it's nice to play the Australians and get a crack at them."

With Joe Root pushed up to open alongside Cook in the Essex Warm Up game, Compton knows that he will have to score runs over the next week or so to keep his name in the frame "I still want to keep myself in the frame and you can only do that by scoring runs." Compton concluded
