Video: Cook on Opening Ashes Test

England captain Alastair Cook has been speaking to the media ahead of the opening Ashes test at Trent Bridge. With all the talking nearly over, it's time for the eleven men from each side to get out on the field and prove their worth....

Cook has backed his new opening partner Joe Root to shine in the series, after the youngster was backed to be promoted to opener instead of Nick Compton.

With the weather set fair for the entire test match, it could be that whoever wins the toss will opt to bat first and try and pile on the runs.

Cook was speaking to ECB TV.
