Carroll in Alleged Toon Bust Up With Taylor

By Tyne-Talk
March 22 2010

The Daily Mail & The Times are reporting a training ground bust up between Andy Carroll & Steven Taylor which is alleged to have resulted in a broken jaw for the defender & an end to his season. Carroll who is currently on bail for assault & awaiting trial in the Crown Court is also, according to the press, reported to be suffering with an injured hand, drawing the conclusion that he was involved.

Prior to this news hitting the media channels, manager Chris Hughton was quoted praising his team for doing their talking on the pitch rather than repeatedly being in the press for negative events. He also spoke of Steven Taylor's imminent comeback;

He said;

"We said last week that he was probably three or four weeks away and he's had the brace taken off his knee that he had to use."

He added;

"The biggest reason is where we are in the league. The fact we've been top for most of the season and the fact we've shown enough good things on the pitch has allowed the fans to have more good weeks than bad.

It gives them optimism for next season that we're going in the right direction. The fans are some of the most important people around the club and it's important for them to have a winning team."

Neither the club nor the players spokespersons have commented on the situation.

I will be gutted on so many levels if this is true.

It would be an absolute joke and make a mockery of the excellent season Carroll is having.

I cannot beleive (if true) though the refusal to give any form of statement would imply that it is, he would be so stupid.

Unreal Carys. If this is true I cant believe how stupid both of them could be. But espec Carroll as he is already on bail and is having a storming season.

What is it with young lads. No matter what Taylor might have said or done its not worth Carroll wedging him. It couldnt have been during training either as Taylor is obviously injured.

Just hope its innocent and the press are jumping the gun.

Well I am sure there will be some indication tomorrow, as Carroll will either be dropped with no word, injured (bad hand) or play which would imply the above is purely gossip/speculation from The Mail/Times.

I'm afraid it sounds like it's true. George Caulkin usually knows everything going on at Newcastle in his articles in the Times.

Carroll is out of tomorrows game after suffering an injury to his hand that required treatment at the R.V.I.

Is this where all our hard work this season becomes undone by negative off the field headlines and the great harmony fostered among the lads in the dressing room comes undone this season?

Are you !@#$ing kidding me? Taylor makes excellent recovery on his knee injury only to get in a fight with Carroll and both end up in the hospital.

[EDIT]

I'll reserve judgment until we get an official statement.

steven taylor is on my friends list on facebook and i regulary talk to him on it, i and a few others were asking him when he comes back from injury, he said he just out of brace and is still a couple of weeks away from returning from injury, i doubt this story as it says this happened when they were both training, im guessing that phantom club insider talkn porkies again, i will let everyone know if he has anything to say today

They were just talking about it on Sky Sports News, but other than Taylor didn't say to much more. It could be lies as there has been plenty but if true and this time I actually believe the press, but I am hoping I am wrong, then something needs to happen. Regardless of what Taylor said or didn't say it gives Carroll no right to do what he did.

The big thing for me is the planning for next season, and we should be looking to strengthen the team but on the looks of it Carroll may have to go, already in trouble for a night out and then snotting Taylor.

If Carroll is guilty then he needs to be sold, as we can't keep having this kn@b culture that the toon seem to have. The problem being now is how much are we going to get for him as he will be seen as a trouble maker, if it did happen that would have cost us a few million

Well well well .. something like this just had to happen didn't it .. wev'e had a quite & successfull season so far & i think the main reason for that is were not in the media light everyday with stories being spread .. now this could seriously rock our boa.

Its hard to pass judgement when we dont have all the facts.
But Carroll has already banjo'ed someone in the Blue Bamboo nightclub and this looks like he is the aggressor too.
It will be a shame if he is a bad tempered loose cannon as he is really finding form on the football field.
He may have to go in the summer!
You'd think he would have looked at the mess Barton has gotten himself into over the years but it doesnt seem that way.

You are right it is wrong to jump to conclusions, but he has been linked to trouble in the past, and you would think Barton would be the perfect example of trying to stay out of trouble when you look at his career.

If he is guilty then I can't see us keeping him and even though the lad is a talent it would be best to flog him

If it's true, either Carroll or Taylor are gone this summer. I think the vast majority of us would take Taylor in that situation.

Why couldn't he have decked the other Taylor instead?

I have no trouble believing this of Carroll. I've watched him on the pitch, he's arrogant, argumentative and somedays he looks as if he's spoiling for a fight.

Another young lad getting too much too soon, who doesn't think the rules we all live by apply to him.

I don't care if he scores 50 goals a season, get rid, we don't need another Barton, Dyer, Bowyer.

It sounds like they were winding each other up and it boiled over.

The ball is really in Taylors court, but most people would shake hands and get on with.

I think there is no need to sell anyone because of a training ground incident. And I don't think the club will look to sell anyone either.

We still have Barton don't we? We all know he's a knob and the club won't sell him.

Why couldn't he have snotted Nicky Butt? Or at least kicked his walking frame out from under him. He is 50 isn't he?

Your right plenty of clubs have training ground incidents, but not many turn into having to put one of the players in hospital. Players get far to much at an young age. If you think that he had a run in with Nzgobia, ok a kn@b. Then the incedent when he was out on the drink and now this. When is the lad going to learn if he is guilty of all of the things. As all of them have been fairly recent, it is not as if it was over a 5 year period.

Look at the top clubs they don't have these problems, it is clubs who generally struggle or there are problems in the club, and the toon have always struggled, this year it didn't seem that way. I am not saying we are a top club as we all know we are not but then if we are hoping to be a top club we need to get rid of the trouble makers regardless if they are talented.

I have to say if they can keep Barton then they can't really sack Carroll on the basis or a spat in the changing rooms (or whatever).

I wouldn't want to see him sold over this. He is scoring goals. What will we do next season without a striker who actually scoreS?

lets think of our main goal first, if carroll is needed to get us through to may and promotion, do it, play him. then deal with whatever needs to be dealt with. its in house so far, if its kept that way nothing need come of it, but i dont like the idea he can (no idea at this point of any real facts of course) damage someone so badly, deliberately, and face no consequence. that would be wrong, wouldnt it?

We had no bids for Barton, if we did he would have been sold, Carroll is different people will give him another chance at a club so we have the re-sale value.

I do agree with LMK, play the lad to get us up and it is not that there will be conflict with Taylor as he is out for the season now, but if Carroll is guilty then I think he should be sold.

I would be gutted as he is a good player with massive potential, but if we kept him what message are we sending out to the other kids that maybe coming through, it doesn't matter if you are a kn@b as long as you are good. Lets get rid of the @rs@holes at the club and have people that have the right attitude on and off the pitch, atleast this way we won't be getting any cr@p from the media

Top clubs and players do have these problems. They're just more effectively covered up.See: John Terry banging his teammate's baby-mama and getting a court to issue a pre-emptive gag order about it...and then see things like Niklas Bendtner being escorted from a club by the police with his pants around his ankles...and Steven Gerrard punching out people who don't defer to him in bars...the list goes on...not saying it justifies AC's behavior or is a reason to keep him but the idea that this doesn't happen at big/successful clubs is just incorrect.

Maybe my statement was slightly wrong, but these incidents don't happen all the time and only happen once in a while. What I was trying to say was that the top clubs don't have punch ups in training and if they do then nothing every comes out, they may have other issues but the problem the toon have all the time is to stick with the player which means we are saying it is ok with what they have done. We need to make a statement and say f@ck you if you make us look like idiots to the media

Sure most of you lot have already seen this joke but thought I would share anyway.

"John Terry sha.gs Bridges lass, gets her pregnant and makes her have an abortion. He then sha.gs her some more.......... Bridge refuses to shake Terry's hand.

Taylor sends one text to Carroll's ex lass and he breaks his jaw.

It makes you proud to be a Geordie".
