Ranger To Miss Last 3 Games

Newcastle United's Nile Ranger is set to miss the final three games of the season after picking up an ankle injury during a reserves match. The 19 year old striker managed 70 minutes on Monday night against Middlesbrough's reserves before leaving the pitch with a twisted ankle which will need to be monitored.
Manager Chris Hughton told The Chronicle;
"Nile's injured. He came off with 20 minutes to go in a reserve game with his ankle.
He's definitely out. It's one we're assessing but it's a sore one. It's not long-term though.
He certainly won't be available for Plymouth and at this moment it looks like he might not be available for Saturday either. He's just twisted his ankle. It's not a bad one, but it will take a little while to settle down."
Ranger has made 30 appearances this season for the first team in all competitions.

Its unfortunate as I'd have like to see him get a game or two before the end of the season. Having said that, it has been his break through season and hopefully he has learned a lot and can come back next season pushing for more appearances.

loan him out next season. failed to make an impact this season, will only get harder next year. he has time to get it right, but not by sitting on our bench

I would like to see him loaned out for 6 months to a championship side with a view at reassessing him in January for the bench.

I thought he would have featured when we were four to the good against Blackpool, and once we had the title in the bag we may have seen a few fringe players guess its hard luck, agree with the loaning of him as long as he gets games though, Harris Vukick is now fit again maybe we could see him feature instead?

there are strong rumours that the first team squad have rejected ranger, and that this is why he hasnt featured much. i know for certain that he was locked up for attacking danny simpson in december, for instance. a full year away may be the best thing, for several reasons, cos the way i see it if we end up having to play him much next year we will be losing more than we win or draw. he has years ahead of him, no rush, i say

The ideal thing is to tie him to longterm contract and then loan him out for a season or two to get experience. Maybe a season in the championship and then a season oversea's to get the experience to come back and we are then planning for the future.
Don't know how true this is, maybe the Ranger from old is coming out, ex con. But a bit away from the club may get him to relise what a big club we are, and his futures is here if he winds his neck in

Good point by Carys and agree he needs to go out on loan. Maybe to Norwich with Foster again as Lambert wont talk any sh.it.
Heard the same rumour LMK that since he has stepped up to the first team he has ballooned as a pri.ck. Its a shame if he has as other than showing some promise he did very little.

Loan him out next season. If we pick up another forward he'll be way down the pecking order anyway. Hopefully he'll do well in the ccc and if he can't be integrated into the squad we can sell him on...too bad if we have too, though. He's certainly gifted.
