Newcastle United's Fabricio Coloccini has announced that the Argentinian coach's decision not to include him in the World Cup squad came without warning and that he only found out in the media. Coach Maradona dropped 7 players originally announced in his provisional squad of 30.
He told the Evening Chronicle;
"These decisions of the coach must be
respected, and it's not only me who has been left out, but many
players.
But
no-one from the coaching staff contacted me to tell me.
Once I
get beyond this hard time, I will be Argentina's number one fan, and I
hope we come out champions.
Like any player would be, I am sad
about this decision. But I give all my support to these players to take
Argentina to the top of the world.
We should not be selfish and
that is why I wish the best to the guys. It is the coach's decision."
After considering the possibility of playing in the 2014 competition, he added;
“Luckily, my environment keeps me calm because things have gone very
well in England with Newcastle United and everything is possible."

I've been picking them to crash out spectacularly. Because of Maradona, of course. This doesn't surprise me. I'd have Colo in there before Burdisso. I don't care how big his club is-he's been awful for large portions of the the season.
It is a wierd one, I thought he was a guarantee to go, but then Diego has made some wierd choices, with leaving out Cambiasso and Zanetti. I thought they were going to shock a few and were in with a shout of lifting the cup, after struggling initially to get there. Well done Diego
Argentina has a history of crashing and burning in group play the last few years. 2002 was especially bad. They can only go as far as Messi can carry them, which is actually quite far.
They've got a really rough group, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if they don't make it out. Greece is going to play anti-football, score 1 goal (two if they are really adventurous) in three games, and win the group. Nigeria or South Korea could easily pull an upset over Argentina and get out of that group with 4 points.
