Newcastle United manager Chris Hughton has told Radio Newcastle that he is in no rush to sign players and is happy to wait until after the World Cup before making any decisions. Hughton who is reportedly interested in Spurs midfielder Jamie O'Hara and Manchester City winger Vladimir Weiss believes his has the foundations of a strong squad but additions will be needed.
He said;
"The most important thing is that we bring in the players that we want.It is not about how quickly we bring them in, it is about bringing in the quality that we need to and by the time we go into this campaign I think we will be where we want to be.
I have said before that I felt that we need to keep the nucleus of what we have but we need to add to it. We need to make sure that we are starting the season in the best shape we can to go into a very difficult league.
Yes we need to add to the squad and I am very, very confident that by the time the season starts we will have the numbers that we need to bring in.
I expect more business after the World Cup. At the moment everyone is evaluating what they have and what they are prepared to let go and what sort of fees they want for their players. That is normal. There certainly will be some business done but I didn't expect too much to be done post-season.
But we will get to the stage over the next few weeks where I think you will start to see a bit more business."

As a fan it would be great to sign somebody as previously when world cup were on as fans I always looked to see who we could buy, this world cup has been different as we have no money, and people brought in will be wheel and dealed.
I was at the game and Portugal do have some quality players. All probably out of our reach though. Its also frustrating to see players like Hunt sign for Wolves. That's I think their fourth signing already while we we were said to be interested in Hunt before he joined them.
As a Wolves fan i can relate to where your coming from, we have had years of cautious statements and "there is no rush".Its only now that we have moved quickly for our signings and put our money where our mouth is by going for people like Hunt. You still have a lot more premier league quality than most so i'd be suprised if you made major signings this summer.
Good shout, Joker. With any luck both of our clubs will see that strategy lead to an extended stay in the top flight.
I was never that interested in Hunt, specifically. Don't see the point of bringing him in to compete with Jonas (especially when Loven can play out there too) when we have pressing needs elsewhere in the squad.
A couple of seasons ago I would take him, Hunt is a grafter but no real quality. If we got him and he played then we would need to change the style of play. If we are going to bring in a left winger you need to bring in somebody that can play the same style as Jonas so then the style of football don't need to be changed
