Gosling On Verge Of 4 Year Deal Worth £25k A Week

Dan Gosling has agreed a 4 year deal( rumoured to be worth £25,000 a week in wages to the midfielder) with Newcastle United after leaving Everton and becoming a free agent, however with Everton appealling his method of leaving the club this "free" signing could end up costing the club a few million.

The 20 year old left Everton a week or so ago after a verbal agreement failed to be followed up in writing. He was ruled to be within his rights by the Premier League, which Everton are disputing. In the unlikely event that Everton win their appeal, Newcastle could end up paying the asking price for Gosling which stands at £4million - an expensive fee for a player who played just 10 times last season.

Much has been said in the media regarding Gosling's attitude to Everton and football with many reports suggesting he is just in it for the money. Gosling, who was on £8000 a week at the club and was offered a £15000 a week deal for 3 years verbally, is set to earn £25000 at Newcastle United if the deal is sealed.

I'll wait for official confirmation but if true, like it appears to be, it will be a good signing and credit must go to the guys who have made this deal possible. He had a few clubs after him so it shows that we can still sign good quality youngsters and hopefully more can follow suit. Initially the the 25k a week might seem high for sum, but I feel he'll progress and that amount of wages will prove to be a bargain especially if Everton lose their appeal for compensation.

£4million would be a big sum if everton win their appeal - which would be unlikely

Not sure I would pay £4m for an injured player who made just 10 appearances last season

I don't take issue with signing him. He sounds like a good prospect (except he is injured at present and only played 10 appearances last season.....) if he can get fit.

However I wouldn't pay £4m for a player who won't play till xmas and barely took to the pitch last season. Who has also had a previous relatively problematic injury all at 20 years old.

25K is a bit much, but we're not going to get players to choose us over Everton if we're not offering good (not crazy) wages.

This is a gamble. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

The Mirror claims that it's done, and Newcastle have agreed to pay a compensation fee if the judges rule such. Yet to see any other source confirm.
