Carroll Charged With Assault And Bailed Until January 2011

Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll appeared at Tynedale Magistrates Court this morning having been arrested and charged with assault on ex girlfriend Laurie Henderson. Carroll who is due to go on trial at Newcastle Crown Court at the end of the month is alleged to have been involved in an incident at Miss Henderson's house at 4.40am on Sunday.

 

Carroll, who has just signed a new 5 year deal at the club, was released by the court on conditional bail, after an hour long hearing. On the conditions that he resides with Newcastle United captain Kevin Nolan and his family in Ponteland, just 15minutes away from the complainant, and that he does not contact any prosecution witness.

Unfortunately trouble seems to follow Carroll, in the last two years alone he has allegedly been involved in 4 separate incidents;

14th September 2008

Alleged to have assaulted a women in The Pudding Chare, Newcastle.

Accepted a caution for assault.

21st January 2009

Alleged to have been involved in a fight with team mate Charles N’Zogbia

No police involvement.

7th December 2009

Alleged to have assaulted a man in the Blu Bambu nightclub, Newcastle.

Arrested, charged and currently on bail awaiting trial at the Crown Court this month.

22nd March 2010

Alleged to have assaulted team mate Steven Taylor.

No police involvement.

18th October 2010

Alleged to have assaulted his ex girlfriend at her house.

Arrested, charged and currently on conditional bail until January 10th.

Unusually this breach of the 21 year olds initial bail conditions is not being dealt with at the up and coming trial. Instead it remains a separate case to be heard on January 10th 2011.

Yep definitely, if you think in at least two of those (the December incident and Taylor incident) he has caused quite a bit of damage.

tbh this aint looking good and the bad press will be back on its way to the club, it really needs to be stamped out.

What's more likely, that some "fan" is going after Andy or the ex is extracting some revenge? If its the latter, doesn't that help his defense? If she's nutty enough to torch his car then it seems more likely his incident could have been self defense. Maybe coming home at 4am set her off.
