Match Preview/Stats/Thread: Newcastle Utd v Fulham

Newcastle United host Fulham tomorrow afternoon on the back of a midweek defeat against Blackburn Rovers and Fulham travel after a 1-0 defeat against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, also in midweek. Chris Hughton takes his side into the game with three wins, two defeats and one draw from their last six games, whilst Mark Hughes's side have lost three, drawn two and won one of their last six games.
Hughton has admitted that this season will have its up and its downs and with the defeat in midweek Fulham will be hoping to exploit their weaknesses. Joey Barton will miss the game as he begins a 3 match ban imposed by the FA after punching Blackburn’s Morten Gamst Pederson, whilst Ryan Taylor will also miss out through an ankle injury.
Steve Harper (collarbone), Dan Gosling (knee) and Hatem Ben Arfa (broken leg), continue to miss out.
Shola Ameobi will have a late fitness test after picking up a hamstring injury, but Peter Lovenkrands is likely to replace him in the starting line up. Leon Best (ankle) is back in training and could make the bench, whilst James Perch (ankle) will be hoping he can regain his fitness in time. News of Steven Taylor’s come back is limited despite no longer being listed as injured and having played in reserve matches since recovering from his shoulder injury.
Fulham are without Carlos Salcido (ankle) and Chris Baird (thigh), whilst Bobby Zamora (broken leg), Philippe Senderos (calf/shin) and Stoor (groin) all remain long term absentees. Mark Hughes has no new injury concerns to content with.
Fact: Fulham did the double over Newcastle in the 2008/09 season.
Fact: Fulham have failed to win any of their last 24 away League games. Their last away league win was on the opening day of the 2009/10 season.

It was important not to lose this game after the result in the week. Can't say I'm to upset about a point. Pretty good day.
As for being disappointed about today's result tunyc. Remember Fulham were in Europe last year and are a very good if underrated side. I think a point is not at all a bad result.
You are right about our home form in general but I don't agree in this instance.
OTL is right. We out played them but Hodgson turned them into a very organised team with a great defence and Sparky has probably toughened them up somemore. They came with a game plan but it wasnt with through lack of trying that we didnt win.
Guthrie did ok but I suppose he has just really come back. He was slow though and thought Rout could have came on a little sooner. Loven had some nice touches and did himself no harm.
We could/should have won but I will take another point.
With Tiote and Barton both suspended for next game, I'd prefer to see Routledge out wide and Guthrie in the middle, giving us the same side that dominated last season. Hughton will probably deploy Smith in the center and Guthrie on the flank though.
