Who says life is boring, and when you are a Newcastle fan it is far from that, I for one thought it wasn’t the worst news at the time when Ashley took over the club, as I was sick of how Freddie Shepherd and Co were running the club, and how wrong can we be about the guy, with mistake after mistake.
Employing managers at the drop of the hat, to sack them, bringing back legends and men who had been out the game for ages, Kinnear and is heart problems. Relegation and the excitement of being back in the most exciting league in the world.
Eventually having normality or as best as you can with the club and something that hadn’t been around in a while, under Hughton. Changing the manager, and bringing in Pardew who had been sacked from League 1 Southampton.
Let’s not forgot the debt the club has, and obviously relegation never helped the club accounts, obviously he inherited a lot of the debt, the massive wage bill we have and then the players contracts are up. The aim of Ashley to make the club debt free in 5 years and how will this have a effect on the transfer budget and the players we keep. Lastly Dennis Wise, what an appointment, and for me ranks in the one of the worst the club has ever had.
Imagine the guy was different and he listened to the fans and we had a chance to change the club, what advice would you give the guy as we clearly know he knows nothing about us as a club. Would you like to see player cap on wages, how much invested in the transfer window, more cash invested in the kids which will have an effect on the transfer budget, would you like to see a us to have a figure head in the club who runs the day to day business, like Niall Quinn at Sunderland, somebody who has played for the club and knows what it means to the fans. Keep the manager or change him or get rid of some of the players. Would you make the club debt free in 5 years or invest that little bit more and keep some of the debt.
Even though I am not a Ashley fan, it would be good to discuss what we would do with the club, rather than have a dig at the fat man.

needed, needs, to be put on an even keel before we go all fantasy football. see the figures on the other thread, the club was in a real mess, and hard decisions had to, have to, be taken to sort it out. its hard to criticise so broadly when we all know this is true.
anything anyone would do differently that wouldnt cost even more money the club did not and still does not have?

as much bad as ashley has done regards to manager appointments etc, if he had not been tight fisted at times we could quite easily of become a portsmouth on the brink, and at the end of the day we are back playing where we belong again. so for me ashley isn't the evil mastermind most ppl have him down as.

Would only remind the owner that constantly replacing management is expensive. Take time, do homework, appoint the right guys and leave them in charge-actually in charge-for a while. Stop being the stereotypical meddling business owner. Having the capital to be owner does not make one a good manager.

ok, just for fun, which one then tunyc? he has sacked sam, had a failed relationship with kk, lost kinnear to ill health, and the only other full time boss was chris hughton, who was also sacked.
bearing in mind the circumstances each time, which manager should we have kept, or are you allowing yourself the luxury of not appointing any of the above, and taking someone else?

Would have stuck with SA or CH. Either one could build slowly or at least establish stability before handing off to someone who could certainly push us up the table years later. Or they could grow with us, like Moyes at EFC.

Stability at the club has to the way forward, unless you have loads to spend in the market and going for instance success you need somebody to build. I would like to see a figure head at the club, an ex player who runs the day to day business and let Ashley control the finances, as in football terms he isn't the best. I would like to see us spend a little more in the market, and fully agree that being debt free in 5 yrs is great, but to go fully tight is the wrong way, and to keep paying the debt is good, but do it over a couple of years more otherwise we could struggle.
I would clear the@#$%&out of the club, which would bring in some extra cash or atleast get them of our wage bill, make up some of the players in the youth team and bring in a couple of experienced players. Big money men have to go and would offer them a basic salary with bonuses of staying in the premiership, league position, euro spots and if amazing a cup run, if players don't accept they are off, looks like the club is doing this, which is good for me. But wages have to come down, as mid table teams are not paying what we are, and the problem we are in this debt.
