Barton & Ireland Set To Face Stoke

Stephen Ireland could make his debut for Newcastle United against Stoke City a week on Saturday, whilst Joey Barton should also be fit enough to return after struggling with a thigh injury. However, Jose Enrique who went off at the weekend against Everton with a hamstring problem will need a full assessment before manager Alan Pardew is prepared to consider his return match.
Pardew said of his injured players;
“Ireland trained Thursday, and looked like he was going to be OK, and then got the thigh injury which kept him out of training on Friday.
Joey actually trained Friday thinking that he’d be OK, but again didn’t feel quite right.
I don’t think there’ll be a problem for Joey and Stephen against Stoke.
We’ll wait and see with Jose. He’s a key player for us, and that injury affected us more than any other one.”
Jonas Gutierrez also left the field at the end of the match on Saturday carrying an injury.

Thigh strains are the bane of this squad. We don't even have a good bane.
Fingers crossed.
Also Tiote wasnt booked so will be available. I still cant see him lasting the next three games without getting booked to avoid a ban. Who knows.
