Pardew: Fantastic New Deal On The Cards For Enrique

By Tyne-Talk

Alan Pardew has told the Evening Chronicle the club will be offering Jose Enrique a fantastic new deal, but that whilst they are hopeful he will put pen to paper, they are also realistic in their outlook and the Guardian reports that Enrique is currently rumoured to be the 2nd highest paid player in his position in the Premier League.

Pardew said;

"We have been waiting to see his representatives, they are due here in the early part of next week. We are going to make Jose a very, very good offer and we are hoping he is going to accept it.

We are realistic about Jose because the ball is in his court on that one, not in ours.

He will be offered a fantastic contract here, he knows that, but still it is going to be down to his decision. I am still hopeful."

Enrique has caught the eye of Liverpool and Manchester United as well as Bayern Munich and Milan.

It's like banging your head against a brick wall sometimes. Enrique gets a fantastic new deal and Joey doesn't?

I don't believe for one minute that Jose will be here next season though.

I hope we can keep them both.

I think Barton was offered a new deal but he wanted an extra year and the club weren't willing to give him that. As for Enrique I think he may be leaving but the fact that his representatitves are sitting down with the club may give us hope of keeping him. We need to keep both players though.

I think he is gone, he has turned himself into a very good left back and must want to play or be at a team that can compete for europe. I can't see us offering him what he wants in the contract, I am sure he will be offered a decrease in wages as I think he is a big earner.

If he is going, then just flog, if he is going to stay then sign the bloody contract. I don't want a mess around summer with players leaving late when the window is shutting
