N'Zogbia Doesn't Know What He Wants, Does He?

Former Newcastle United winger and current target Charles N’Zogbia has followed Michael Owen’s lead this week and been tweeting about his former employers. N’Zogbia, who left Newcastle for Wigan Athletic in 2009, called Newcastle a “big club” and claims he enjoyed his time there.

Manager Alan Pardew has shown a consistent interest in the 25 year old who spent 5 years on Tyneside before claiming a future at the club wasn’t possible for him.

Back in 2008 when N’Zogbia believed his career would be moving up the League to a top 4 club, he was quoted saying;

“I need to leave as I want a new level of ambition. That is just not possible at Newcastle. I have given my all for them but I want to step up a level and join a top club.”

He was also said;

“I've been here for four years. It's a club who have allowed me to discover the France youth team, and I thank them for that, but at some point you have to know how to aim higher. I've spoken to my bosses at the club. They know what my aims are and what I want to continue to progress. As soon as a big club knocks on the door with a good offer, I don't think they'll prevent me leaving.”

However it would seem that Charlie has had a change of heart and realised that perhaps Newcastle wasn’t such a bad place to be after all. After the recent interest shown by Pardew, N’Zogbia tweeted in response to a fans question;

“Newcastle is a big club, and a gre[a]t atmosphere to play at St James's Park! I enjoyed the time I had playing for NUFC.”

Earlier in the week he told reporters;

“The decision to sell me, and at what price, lies with my manager and the chairman; Even if I do have the desire to play at a bigger club I can’t say whether I’ll leave or stay.

The only certainty is that I will be in England next season. I have this league in my blood.”

Whilst a “source” close to the player was quoted two weeks ago saying;

“He’s always regretted leaving the club, and if there was a chance to come back he would obviously be interested.”

With Liverpool, Aston Villa and Tottenham amongst the clubs he has been linked with, the comments made would appear favourable to Newcastle, but does he know what he wants?  And would you want him back with the knowledge that he can play the media to his advantage so regularly?
