Barton: I Don't Want To Leave - Its All Hypothetical

By Tyne-Talk

Joey Barton has been back on Twitter today Tweeting that he, Jonas Gutierrez and Jose Enrique will all be following in skipper Kevin Nolan’s shoes and leaving the club over the summer. His “tweets” come in stark contrast the interview released today by Sky Sports News where the midfielder insists he is not pushing for a move away from the club.

His Twitter was updated with;

“Feel sick. Great player, leader, captain, person, trainer and mostly a friend for life. Devastated to see him SOLD! #mejoseandjonasnext.”

Whilst he told Sky Sports News;

"I love the football club, without a shadow of a doubt, and I think everyone knows that. I have a great working relationship with the manager and a lot of the other players, obviously the other senior players who have been through the ups and downs - the likes of myself, Kevin Nolan, Stevie Harper, Smudger (Alan Smith ).

It's a difficult situation and I totally understand the club's point of view, but on the flip side it's hard for me to get drawn into it.

I am an employee of the football club and I have to go back and do a job in the summer. As far as I know I will go back to Newcastle United and play until my contract runs out and they tell me I am no longer needed.

I have got no ambitions to leave the football club, I don't want to leave the football club, and I would love nothing more than to win a trophy at Newcastle. Whether I get the opportunity to do that is out of my hands.

I am an employee of the football club and if they choose to do something, I would be foolish not to listen to it. If I'm not wanted then I believe greatly in my ability and I would have to re-evaluate my options.

That's the situation we are at at the minute. If that's the situation in a month's time then I will report back for pre-season training, if it's not then it's not.

It's all hypothetical at the minute and I'm just trying to keep myself in shape and get myself ready for a league campaign with Newcastle United next season."

Oh, come now. There's no contradiction as you imply. This interview-released today-was not conducted today, and you know that. Stop trying to manufacture controversy.

Alright then, my bad.

(Sorry, there's not "falling on my sword" smiley...)

The guy's obviously emotional then and, let's face it, not the most stable/restrained character.

Your very quick to slate the articles that all.

Without them the site will be pulled.

I can always withhold any comments. Seems equally counterproductive.

On a side note, how stupid did Barton look in that top hat. Looked like an extra from Bugsy Malone or something.

All: I apologize for my b.itchy comments up-thread. I didn't have a good day yesterday and I was obviously emotional myself, but that's no excuse to be nasty.

BB-link? I could use a laugh...

Love the pictures and well found.

Never bet on the races, but thought I would when I saw a horse called geordieland, talked everybody into betting on it at work, so had a few people p@ssed off with me, thank god I am off today. Might just stick to my wrong predictions on the Toon now, stick with me and I will make you skint

Barton on sky sports news: "I've heard a few rumours about players getting signed and they seem to be good quality players, so if they can add to what we've already got at the football club, then so be it.

"I'm employed to play football, not to make decisions about the transfer market. Let's just hope for everyone's sake they can find a few more Cheik Tiotes."

He'll be starting to @#$%& a few people off the way he's goin. Definitely looking for a move.

Don't blame him looking for a move if his contract is not going to be extended, either lose him now or next year. Just hope he keeps his mouth shut as this could be negative effect on the players.

He had a great season last year, but he needs to remember he did nothing for us until then, so maybe if we can cash in then I would

The turnover in the squad will cause problems at some point. Even if all these new guys are great, they're going to take time to settle and gel into a team. Keeping Tiote will help but if Barton goes we're looking at a very different midfield come August.

thats hopefully why were getting so much business tied up early give the squad a bit time, its not like in previous years buying ppl at the last minute and expecting to gel insdtantly. Their going to have a few month together to prepare for the season ahead.

Thats the big thing, getting them in early so they can have a full pre season togethor, yes the team is going to be different but if this was going to Ashley plans to get rid of the big name players, then it was going to happen sooner or later. If players are wanting to go then better go quick so we bring in players quick.

Barton wanted to stay on all accounts, but now the decision has been made not to extend his contract and the comments he has made recently about Nolan going, and then his bit with Jonas and Jose, I would sell him as having no problems in the dressing room is important

Getting them in early is good, but still-nothing gets you up to game speed but games.
