Newcastle Sign Sylvain Marveaux - Player Profile

Newcastle United have signed their 3rd player of the closed season, Sylvain Marveaux from French side Rennes. The25 year old midfielder has signed a 5 year deal with the club on a free transfer after his contract came to an end. Newcastle fought off strong competition from Liverpool, who Marveaux travelled to earlier in the week for a medical, which he failed due to the groin injury which him picked up in November and then kept him out for the rest of the season.
Pardew said of the signing;
"It's a great coup to have signed Sylvain, who has received interest from a number of other clubs.
He may not be well known to many of our fans, but he is a real talent and a player we have been keeping an eye on for some time. It's been a good couple of days for us on the transfer front."
Marveaux who played in the Under 21 International side between 2006 and 2008 will officially leave Rennes on 1st July 2011.
