Alan Pardew has named Tim Krul in goal for this afternoon’s game against Italian side Fiorentina at St James’ Park, and Fraser Forster on the bench as Steve Harper recovers from a knee injury, whilst Haris Vuckic is given a starting place after performing well during previous pre-season games.
Cheik Tiote remains in Ghana dealing with his visa “issues”, whilst Joey Barton who was transfer listed last week fails to be named but will be at the game watching from the sidelines.
Hatem Ben Arfa (ankle), Danny Guthrie (groin), and Shane Ferguson (ankle), are all out through injuries picked up in pre-season.

Sure Jose will get stuck in especially whilst the transfer window is open. Sure it wont happen but the more I think about it I hope he either goes in January or on a free next summer. The chance of us getting someone in with quality before the season starts is doubtful and this is a massive season for us transitionally.
Too bad about the game. What a preseason, eh boys?
