Barton Will Make Transfer Decision Today

Alan Pardew has reconfirmed his position on Joey Barton's future at Newcastle United by insisting the midfielder has a place at the club as Barton has tweeted his intention to announce his decision today. Barton who is currently considering a move to Queens Park Rangers, hasn't been offered another contracted by Newcastle and was transfer listed a few weeks ago on the back of ongoing tweets about the club. QPR are said to have offered Joey a 4 year deal worth £60k a week after he passed a medical yesterday.

Pardew told The Chronicle;

“At the moment, Joey is thinking long and hard about his future. He knows what is happening in respect of the team and the players.

He also knows he can come back here and it is a good environment. He might want to try to stay here and improve the club’s situation.

He might take QPR on, but it is his decision. We might have to live and die by it.

He is an important player for us and has a role to play.”
