Pardew: Krul Can Step Into Harpers Shoes

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is confident that goal-keeper Tim Krul can adopt the leadership shown by fellow keeper Steve Harper, as he develops at the club. Krul who made his debut for Newcastle 5 years ago, is now the No.1 keeper at the club, with Steve Harper seeking first team football at Brighton & Hove Albion on a loan deal which could become a permanent move.
Whilst Krul is modest about his skills, Pardew is clearly impressed but has also been sensible enough to highlight room for improvement.
He told The Chronicle;
“He’s got all the tools, and now it’s about experience and growing as a person and becoming the sort of leader that Harps is and being able to lift and inspire people in the dressing room. That’s what’s next for him.
I think he knows where he’s at – he’s not the finished article yet. He’s not got the experience, but he’s got everything else.
He kicks well, throws well, talks well, he’s confident on crosses, and he’s a great shot-stopper.”
So far this season, Krul has outshone many of his League counterparts by helping Newcastle to 22 points, conceding just 7 Premier League goals. He has 3 years left on his current 4 year contract which was signed in July 2010.

Obviously helped him having Colo and Taylor in front of him who seem to have formed a good partnership and Krul will only get better as the season progresses
