Ranger Denies Assault & Faces Crown Court Trial

Out of favour striker Nile Ranger has pleaded not guilty to four counts of assault and one of being drunk and disorderly. Ranger, who was on bail for the assault charges before then being charged with being drunk and disorderly in the city centre on a separate occasion, has denied two counts of common assault, two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and the drunk and disorderly charge.

He will now return to Newcastle Magistrates Court on January 13th 2012 where he will be committed to Newcastle Crown Court for trial.

The 20 year old was left out in the cold by manager Alan Pardew for a period of three months after the initial allegations, and just as he seemed to be gaining the managers respect he was arrested again.

Just last week he pleaded guilty to a charge of drink driving, where it was proved he was 14mg over the legal limit of 80milligrams per 100milligrams of blood.

His legal representative told the court;

“It is unfortunate he is just the wrong side of the legal limit. If he had been more aware of the effects of alcohol he would not have been anywhere near that,”

The 20 year old was sentenced to £3,300, reduced from £4,950, due to his initial guilty plea and banned from driving for 12 months, which will be reduced to 9months following the successful completion of a drink driver’s awareness course.

He has since been told by Newcastle United to find another club, with Mike Ashley not really interested in accepting a loan deal. Former manager Chris Hughton of Birmingham appears to be most interested.

To locked up three times in the same area within two months is a disgrace and really spits in the clubs face.

If you get my meaning I dont want him to get a move. He doesnt deserve it. I still hope he is sacked so we dont have to pay him up part of his contract for not requesting a move, his signing on fee from another club and his new wages.

Yes, if he was sacked then there will be clubs that will offer him a deal but nowhere near as much as we supposedly pay him. Plus its not as if he has done anything other than fall over like Bambi at times. He hasnt pulled up trees to get another big contract.

The sacking be the better stance and would serve as a reminder to other players.

Agree with Biffins, that the club should sack him to make the stance that players can't do this sh@t here, and it may deter other youngsters thinking they are bigger than they are
