Newcastle United travel to the Etihad Stadium tomorrow for the first of three huge consecutive Premier League games. Manchester City, who have just announced an annual loss of £194.9million for the 2010/2011 season, host of the back of an amazing season so far and sit at the top of the league, but are just 6 points clear of Newcastle who are in 3rd place.
Roberto Mancini’s side have won their last 6 games in all competitions, whilst Alan Pardew’s side go into the game on the back of four wins, one draw and one defeat (in the Carling Cup) from their last six. Both sides remain unbeaten in the League so far this season and are the final two teams to do so.
Controversy surrounds City this week as Carlos Tevez remains AWOL and is expected to incur a hefty punishment from the club which could result in being sacked and unable to play elsewhere due to his extortionate price tag and release fee. Mancini also had 16 of his squad on International duty over the last 10 days with several flying thousands of miles between games.
He will assess Sergio Aguero’s (groin) fitness ahead of the game after he was diagnosed with muscle fatigue, whilst Owen Hargreaves (calf) is fit but unlikely to feature due to lack of fitness.
Vincent Kompany returns from suspension and will go straight back into the starting eleven, but Samir Nasri is absent as he struggles with tendonitis on his knee.
Alan Pardew with without Cheik Tiote who is yet to recover from a knee problem, Leon Best (groin) and Gabrial Obertan (infected toe) are both doubts whilst Sylvain Marveaux (groin) is out as he prepares to undergo surgery.
Newcastle’s defence go into the game as the only defence in the Premier League to have conceded fewer goals than City and will be hoping to maintain that record, despite City scoring an impressive 39 goals in 11 games.
Fact: Newcastle last won at Manchester City 11 years ago when Shearer scored the winning goal, they last won against Manchester City in 2005 when Michael Owen scored the winning goal.

Suppose it was going to happen sometime so to the top of the league team is no disgrace. I only got a chance to listen to a small bit of it so how did we play to anybody who watched the game (Wasim- good descriptions on your scoring please .
Two penalties is a shame as is two of the goals coming from Raylor mistakes as he has been good this season. It might be Santon's turn next time around with it being his more natural position. Not trying to blame the lad for the defeat or anything like. Good on Pardew for keeping players in who have performed.
A goal and Ben hitting the post. As carys said, on another day with a fully fit team, you never know.
Not a bad showing against what looks to be the best team in the league and-just possibly in my opinion-all of Europe. We've got what a lot of teams will have circled as the toughest fixture on the calender out of the way.
to put it into context look at the results the teams who are deemed better than us have achieved against citeh, we were beaten away from home by the best team in the league by 2 poor penalties!
