Newcastle United start with single striker Demba Ba upfront, supported by Haris Vuckic, whilst Leon Best drops to the bench.  Obertan retains his position in midfield alongside Cabae, Tiote and Gutierrez. Steven Gerrard starts on the bench for Liverpool, whilst Andy Carroll and Craig Bellamy, both former Newcastle United strikers, start.
