FA CUP Match Preview/Stats/Thread: Newcastle v Blackburn

Newcastle United host Blackburn Rovers this afternoon in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. Newcastle go into the game on the back of two wins, three defeats and a draw from their last six games, whilst Blackburn travel on the back of four defeats, one draw and a win from their last six.
Both sides have beaten Manchester United within their last two games, but Blackburn, who have lost their last three homes games will be hoping for some on the road luck.
Alan Pardew will be pushing for a good cup run whilst Steve Kean will be deciding whether or not focusing on a relegation battle is more important. Both managers have said they are taking the competitions seriously.
Newcastle will play their first game without Demba Ba and Cheik Tiote, after both were called to the Senegal and Ivory Coast training camps ahead of the African Cup of Nations. Both have been key players for the team this season and it will be interesting to see how well their colleagues, most likely to be Hatem Ben Arfa and Leon Best fill their roles over the coming weeks.
Danny Guthrie (groin), Steven Taylor (Achilles), Peter Lovenkrands (calf) and Sylvain Marveaux (groin) all remain side-lined.
Blackburn are expected to welcome back Gael Givet, who was subbed off against Sunderland after experience heart palpitations. He has since undergone a minor operation and been given the all clear to return. Junior Hoilett (hamstring) remains a doubt as does Scott Dann who isn’t yet match fit, but Martin Olsson (thigh) is expected to return.
In the 139 game history of these two teams, Newcastle have won 56 to Blackburn’s 53 and 30 games have resulted in a draw. The have already met twice this season, once at St James’ Park in the League and once at Ewood Park in the Carling Cup and face each other for the fourth time in just 3 weeks.
Fact: Newcastle haven’t kicked a Premier League side out of the FA Cup since 2005 and have been beaten by Premier League teams on the last four occasions they have drawn them.
Fact: Blackburn have just two wins from their last 12 games.

Having only seen the goals now, its two goals worthy of winning any match. Ben Arfa's should be a goal of the season contender. Really delighted with the win and the progress to the fourth round.
The goals were great, I could not beleive the highlight programme last night on ITV though what a disgrace. One of the only all Premier League ties and we were on last, with the highlights lasting no more than 15 seconds with no analysis. What a complete joke it is ITV having any covergae of the football, why does the BBC or Sky not have any shows covering the FA Cup?
I absolutly detest ITV's football coverage at all times including Champions League there commentators are even more Biased than Sky's (Even the 3D commentators which are the worst of skys lot).
n anycase back on topic great win, two very good goals from two different players, surely HBA will be set to start even on the right wing wher he was playing when he scored that wonder goal. Also was fun to see the spiderman mask
