I've refresh many matches in life, and wor Davide is a very lucky boy. We've got to be aware of the danger of Johnson in situations like that in the second. We can't have center halves lingering up the field w/o cover. Luckily, defensive tactics seems to be a specialty of AP & Co.

Captain colo fed up of the p*ss poor strike force and has a pop himself

The worst 20 minutes from this club I've seen in quite a while.

Anyone who thinks we can do anything w/o our players away in Africa is on crack. In my opinion.

They're no different though. They've got nothing but the long ball. Unfortunately our players decided it was time to put their feet up at half.

Some players absolutely need dropping next week.

The penalty changed the game. It's wasn't even a penalty.
Colo is playing too far up the pitch which has cost us 2 of our 4 goals.
Now we look like we've given up. Could have gone 5th oday on 39 points.
What a @#$%& travesty this half has been.

Agree about Colo and very disappointed that our coaches didn't adjust to account for Johnson's speed. He should have been ordered to stay home.

And yeah, the penalty was lame but then again, we should have been down to 10 at half.

Also it hunk today has answered our questions about why Ben Arfa hasn't been playing a lot this season.
Today he has looked like he's been on the lash all night, disinterested, tired and crap.

No less@#$%&than Shola or, for me, Santon (defensive liability). Best hasn't done much today either.

Shola is garbage.
He shouldn't even be on the pitch really. He belongs behind a counter somewhere, taking orders for burger king.

Colo was playing too far up but to be fair on him he was probably frustrated at the lack of final product at the other end and wanted to get back into the game . Best had not been in the game at all today and ameobi can't finish if his life depended on it that an he is the laziest player I've ever seen always offside and unless the ball is directly at him he's got no chance of getting it

What's happened to our defense? Don't kid yourself-Fulham are just as@#$%&right now as they started. This one gets filed under: shitty performance gets you a shitty result.

Don't know what games AP has been watching when deciding to take Best off instead of Shola. No idea.

I think AP must be saving Best for future games.
If I was AP I wouldn't mind if Shola got both legs reverse broken.

On a brighter note perhaps this will reiterate our need for defenders.
Also I was shocked to find out today that they are having ANOTHER ACON next January. The first time it has been back to back ACON tournaments ever. Normally it's every couple of years.
So please, no more African players.
We need another world class striker from europe and a world class defender from Europe.

If I was AP i'd have everyone in for an extra days training extra early tomorrow morning.
This kind of result simply won't do.

Oh yeah, this is definitely one to run them hard over. This result was not about the quality of players on the pitch-same guys in the first and second halves. It was all about a lack of effort and concentration in the second half.

After a day of hard drills though, best to put this behind 'em.

Maybe it's time to give some of the youngsters a shot while we wait out the african cup not much can be done in defence santon needs time to adapt (remember colo's first year!) ameobi doesn't deserve a place from his last two games and is getting on now so not likely to improve and best is always hit an miss he's either really good or really bad

That is what we need in this window while our decent players are away!
Not half hearted performances from our second string.

for me our biggest problem was willo he was out of position for all of their goals and we we leaving massive gaps when simpson was coming into he centre to fill the gap left by willo!

Colo was often left trying to cover 2 strikers while willo trotted back!

For me the club should be looking to buy a central defender who is going to fight taylor to partner colo and have willo as our 4th defender

Neither Williamson nor Colo stayed home as they should have after Johnson came on. Neither were aware of the danger he posed and apparently our manager & coaches didn't impress this on them. Where were our defenders at the end of the first half when Santon was left alone to defend Johnson?

AP's continued misuse of the squad is worrying. I don't know what he expects from Shola & Best together other than a duplication of a not-very-nuanced style. Both will consistently start a play with their backs to goal and try to take balls down and either turn with it or knock it down for others. HBA is not a natural winger as he doesn't track back much and when he does he's not real good at it. What his goals show me is that he indeed needs to have a free role-especially in a game like yesterday's. After Johnson came on, Fulham soaked up our posession and let us play in front of them. When they got possession, they broke quickly with long passes with Johnson as the ultimate outlet. For our part, we had trouble breaking them down and creating chances despite our possession-Guthrie's goal was a 25-yarder, the kind of goal you can score against the run of play.

At half, Shola should have come off for Raylor, who shoud have gone on the right side of midfield. HBA should have been tucked in behind the forward with clear instruction: if they want to let us have possession, get it to HBA on the ground and let him run at them. This forces their defenders to come out and make decisions. As it is, our offensive tactics played right into their hands.

Worrying. But then again, no tactics will work when most of your squad is ambling around the pitch at 50% effort...

Final bit of rant: when Ba & Cisse return, there will be a legitimate argument for us using a 2-forward formation. Right now, I can't see it at all.

As I've said: I'd like to see an addition to the coaching staff in the offensive tactics specialist area...

Reserves do seem to play with a bit more flair and produce effective attacking players.
