Newcastle United travel to Ewood Park for tomorrow evenings game against Blackburn Rovers. Blackburn host having won two, drawn two and lost two games from their last six in all competitions, whilst Newcastle go into the game on the back of an FA cup defeat having picked up three wins at home and three defeats on the road from their last six games, with one win from six of their last away games.
Blackburn manager Steve Kean will be hoping Newcastle’s poor away form works to his advantage as he clings to his job in defiance of the fans protests against him, his side have also had a 10 day break after Newcastle knocked them out of the FA Cup in the 3rd round. Newcastle manager Alan Pardew really needs to see the side pick up points as they slowly slip down the table after an excellent start to the season.
Senegal International duo Demba Ba and Papiss Demba Cisse have returned to England having been knocked out of the African Cup of Nations, but this game may come too early for the pair. Cheik Tiote however remains in the competition, with the Ivory Coast adding two friendlies into the mix in addition to their Cup games which they went on to win.
Pardew will be hoping captain Fabricio Coloccini is fit, after he was ruled out of the weekend's FA Cup game against Brighton with a groin strain. Sammy Ameobi (knee), Steven Taylor (Achilles) and Sylvain Marveaux (groin) are all long term absentees.
Yohan Cabaye is expected to begin a 3 match ban after the FA charged him with violent conduct; however, he has until 6pm this evening to appeal and should he do so, he may be available.
Blackburn have just secured the signature of Marcus Olsson from Swedish side Halmstad on a free transfer, but must wait for official clearance from FIFA and the Swedish Football Association. He and fellow signing Anthony Modeste are both expected to be available.
Kean welcomes back Martin Olsson, Scott Dann, and Paul Robinson, but will assess Chris Samba ahead of the game after he handed in a transfer request last week.
Miguel Salagdo (ribs), Vincenzo Grella (hip/thigh) and Ryan Nelson (knee) all have no expected return date for Blackburn Rovers and Yakubu remains side-lined through suspension.
Fact: Blackburn have only won one game at Ewood Park from their last four.
Fact: Newcastle have only failed to score in one game on the road this season, their 0-0 draw against Queens Park Rangers.
Fact: Newcastle go into the game on double the number of points compared to Blackburn.

I'd rather start Perch at CB (looked decent against Brighton) and put Colo @ CDM, to be honest. If it comes to that. Hopefully it's what you said first and Gosling can find some form.
Difference that half was a lucky deflection and a very poorly-taken penalty.
Our central midfield is failing massively. It will be interesting to see if Perch starts the second half. Raylor looks like getting himself sent off anyway.
Never a pen glad it was saved. Blackburn have played up this half but def not playing fair. Almost like the think to get a result they have got to cheat one.
Hmm. I thought the penalty was borderline-seen 'em given, seen 'em not given. Now that dive, that was awful. He did it in a way so as to deceive the ref. So I don't blame the official. That's why this kind of dive needs to be punished retroactively.
Surprise, surprise, he's gotten the sub completely wrong. AP learned nothing from Fulham. He thinks he can close up shop for 45 minutes and apparently still sees some point to Shola & Best on the field at the same time.
We got away with it tonight.
Not looking forward to the next two matches without Cabeye.
We gave the ball away far too much.
Thank god we will have better strikers available against Villa.

I've never been one for wenger style conspiracy theories but i'm starting to think someone in the FA has got something against us, instant appeal hearings, biased officials making blatantly biased decisions against us!
Arsenal struggling to a goalless draw was a welcome bonus as well. Demba will return next match, and Demba can't be too far from his debut. Not having Cabaye hurts, but we can squeak by.
Sole possession of 5th place, and just 3 points out of 4th. Have we played anybody yet?
