Cabaye's FA Hearing Scheduled For Wednesday 1st Feb 2012

The Football Association have confirmed Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye has denied the charge of violent conduct which was put to him yesterday. They have also confirmed that a Regulatory Commission will hear the appeal tomorrow, 1st February 2012, ahead of Newcastle United's game away to Blackburn Rovers.
Unusually the hearing is being heard swiftly and within 24 hours of the appeal being lodged. Therefore if unsuccessful Cabaye will miss out tomorrow night and could have his ban increased to four games.

why is it being heard so unusually swift, they worried that with Cabaye in the team we might go above Arsenal and Liverpool!

Unsuprisingly; the appeal was discarded - but not extended at least.

Thought the same thing, mental. I can't recall a case being fast-tracked so as to make sure to get it in before a match. So he was never at risk of a ban for frivolous appeal, was he? Usually when this has been applied it's in a case where the appeal is made to allow a player to appear in a match. Because, you know, they don't usually schedule the hearing for the day after the appeal is lodged.
