Newcastle United host Manchester City tomorrow lunchtime in the penultimate game of the season. They go into the game on the back of a huge win against Chelsea in midweek, with five wins, five clean sheets and one defeat from their last six games. Manchester City travel on the back of four wins, one draw and one defeat from their last six games.
Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is without Steven Taylor (Achilles), Peter Lovenkrands (thigh) Haris Vuckic (knock) and Sammy Ameobi (knee), whilst Danny Simpson faces a later fitness test after missing out in midweek.
Cheik Tiote, who received 8 minutes of treatments from medics at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening, is fit to play, despite sustaining what Pardew jokingly referred to as a “9 inch gash” requiring “400 stitches” (only a slight exaggeration) when he was knocked out by Obi Mikel early in the second half of the game.
Sylvain Marveaux and Gabriel Obertan both returned to the bench in midweek and are expected to start there again tomorrow.
Manchester City, boss Roberto Mancini could be without Joe Hart who is being treated for a foot injury he picked up against Manchester United on Monday night in the closing minutes of the game, whilst David Silva (ankle) is expected to be available.
Sergio Aguero will be City’s man to watch having returned to form of late, whilst Papiss Cisse will be their biggest concern having kept Newcastle in winning ways with 13 goals in his first 12 games for the club.
Fact: Newcastle United have the best record in the Premier League over their last 8 matches having won 7 and lost just 1 game.
Fact: Manchester City have scored 14 goals from corners this season. More than any other Premier League side during this campaign.
Fact: This game is the 165th time the two sides have met. Newcastle have won 70, Manchester City have won 56 and there have been 38 draws.

If Villa get a result today, two wins will guarantee us 3rd place. Then the match in Munich doesn't matter.

HBA off. Huh. The only guy they were doubling and tripling, which actually gave us a lot of the space we used earlier in the game. I think this one's over with that switch. Guessing we'll just lump it forward and hope now.

HBA being doubled and tripled is the reason we had space at times. Since he came off, City have five strung across the back at all times. They're winning everything in the air. We won't break them down. Only a piece of individual magic will get us back in this game now.

I think it ended when we brought on Shola, Carys. Not ripping Shola; he was involved after he came on. Once we decided to bypass the midfield they had nothing to fear.
Just glad they haven't clinched. They can take their celebrations somewhere else.

Nobody's fault on either goal though. Yaya Toure has been the best player in the second half, and has once again shown he's a clutch player (see the FA cup last year). Our Argentines out played theirs, but their Frenchmen dominated ours.
No lack of heart from the lads today, they played as hard as we could hope and got beaten by a better squad, nothing more. We go to Goodison with a chance at least...

I'm really pleased with our performance today. We were never going to be the favourites, but we kept up with them for most of the 90 minutes.

I'm of two minds about that, waffles. Nothing egregious from either goal-one a beautiful strike and the other on the break when we're trying to score. For the first, however, there was nobody tracking Toure from midfield and that's disappointing. Maybe he scores anyway but you've got to make it as hard as possible. Tiote and Cabaye have both looked exhausted at times lately and I can't blame them. For the second, again nobody directly at fault but in a game like this we need better set pieces. They were uniformly poor and the break for the goal probably doesn't happen if the corner isn't cleared by the first defender.

This was always going to be one of the hard games, and at the start of the season people would have given us no chance, but to be in the position that we are in then they have done great. We never really got going in the game, but it was hard to decide what the best way to play was, my mate was saying to sit back and try and counter attack and I thought just go for it.
The players played with passion and done there best today, but once we started to lump it then Lescott and Kompany are going to win the ball in the air all the time
To take it down to the last game is a amazing achievement and I sure there will be plenty of twists left for the top 4
