Player Profile: Toon Target - Douglas Franco Teixeira

FC Twente defender Douglas, real name Douglas Franco Teixeira, has said that Newcastle United are one of five big clubs who have shown an interest in signing him over the summer. The 24 year old, has spent five years at FC Twente, but is looking for a new challenge and has publicly rejected the idea of a move to Ajax.
He told NU Sport;
“I have personally been in touch with Ajax and immediately said that I'm not interested. I want to go abroad as I have outgrown the league. I noticed this year that I am sometimes a little too easy going down, then you make mistakes. I want to be tested every week.
I have spent five years [at FC Twente] and have done my best for the club. I have won the title, the cup - it's time for a next step. Five clubs are interested and there's a bigger club than Newcastle. I cannot still say anything about it, but I hope soon to have my new club."
Both Alan Pardew and scout Graham Carr have been to watch Douglas play for FC Twente since The Chronicle ran a story last December suggesting the club had an interest in the Brazilian, but both Chelsea and Tottenham are also said to be keeping tabs on him.

Perhaps it was lost in translation a little, but with a line like "Five clubs are interested and there's a bigger club than Newcastle" I can't help but think of a young French player who was courting interest from Arsenal and other big teams - then left for the dizzying heights of Wigan Athletic and Aston Villa.
NTS, things can often be lost in translation, that might not be exactly what he meant. If it is true though, I have been concerned with the attitudees of other players before they have signed for us though. Ben Arfa went on strike to force his move to us through and I think someone else did the same (Cisse maybe?). Haven't seen any bad attitude from either of them so far.
The club now not only scouts out a players talent, but also their attitude and suitability to life in the NE, I'd trust their judgement if they went after Dougie.

I was also concerned about his attitude but as you say he might have meant something totally different and lets be fair there are bigger clubs out there!
If we bring him in and his attitude stinks sell him on for a profit after the season!
