Breaking News: Newcastle Approach Liverpool For Carroll

Newcastle United are reported to have approached Liverpool FC to take Andy Carroll back to St James' Park on a season long loan deal, with the option to buy after 12 months. The 23 year old signed a five and half year deal with Liverpool, for £35million, in January 2011 when Kenny Dalglish was in post, but with just 11 goals in 56 games, he has struggled make a huge impact since his arrival.
Sky Sports are reporting that Carroll, who is said to be extremely disappointed by the lack of interest shown since Brendan Rodgers took the managers job, is not wanting a permanent move away from the club, but is reluctantly prepared to accept a loan move to show what he can do.
Within the last week Carroll has been linked with loan moves to both Newcastle United and West Ham, with any loan deal reported to have the option to buy tagged onto the end.
Liverpool are set to make a huge loss on the striker with £15million rumoured to be what they would expect to re-coup if he was to be sold.

I wouldn't pay more than 10M possibly with a sell-on/riser clause based on appearances or goals. Dempsey's moving for 10M supposedly, WHam are going to get Maiga for around 5M. Andy Johnson and Rodallega were available for free. (Personally I'd like to see us get 22-year-old U.S. international forward/LW Brek Shea from MLS for a song...)
I admit I'm a natural conspiracy theorist but I'm having trouble wrapping my mind around why we would even consider him at that price. On loan, sure. Makes sense. Otherwise, why? my concern is how long this saga is going to rumble on, are we going to waste the whole window trying to get a deal for Carroll, liek we did the season we sold Woodgate, we spent that long trying to bring in Rooney we missed out on quality defenders and ended up with very little coming in!
On the other hand is this all smoke and daggers putting the press off the scent of another deal being made!
We've apparently get a 20% sell on clause on carroll and this is proving to be a issue as well as the actual fee!

It will drag on if we are desperate for him, I would make the offer and if they take it then fine, if not move on. At the right price and depending on Carroll's lifestyle I would take him back but at the same time I am not desperate for him. A forward is a must in this window to give the lad time to settle before we lose Cisse and BA to the ANC in Jan.
I do think the way the toon do business recently has been far better now than in the past, but we are after a few players and presently it doesn't look like we are close in getting those deals over the line

I agree as 3.5 million is quite cheap, I understand that we are after the bargain, but at the same time going that little bit more will still be a bargain.
According to AP a couple of days ago we will complete a signing within two weeks

I heard the Douglas deal is all tied up, however the delay is in the fact that in 2 weeks time he gains Dutch nationality so therefore wouldn't need a work permit to play for us once we sign him when that time passes.

I just hope he has time to settle in if that's the case. There's a lot f paper talk about the nationality thing being what's holding up the deal but I haven't seen that from any really good source.

We've got Staylor and Williamson who can play at centre back while he settles in, I don't think that's a worry. Have heard the same and hope it's true, looks a cracking player.

Probably paper talk but papers have mentioned West Ham looking at him. I wish fat head would just f00k off and get his own scouts.

Don't think Williamson is good enough, as he looked like he was going to give a penalty away in every game. Saylor has been out for a while and hopefully when he returns he can link up with Colo how he did before the injury.
Bringing in a CD is just as important as the other main positions that need filling

Carroll has came out and said that he would go on loan to a team in the English league and playing in Europe, which basically means us. None of the top 4 clubs will want him so unless Spuds try a loan deal then he has no other options.

With what Rodgers has been quoted as saying in various story's today looks like he's backtracking a bit and may end up keeping Carroll
No doubt due to lack of interest in him as Carroll has basically ruled out any team outside last seasons top 6 of which none are willing to match the rat eaters valuation
Can't help but feel this is just what they deserve . Carroll for p#%sing away every Geordies dream to wear the number 9 for the toon in favour of little extra cash and the rat eaters for the way they went about the deal for that left back I can't bring myself to name !

There was no lack of interest in Carroll, just Liverpool had totally unrealistic expectations of what they could claw back for him. Could still happen though.
I didn't really see the sense in them selling him in the first place though. After a year of poor form and injuries, he started to finally show something towards the end of last season and I think he can still recapture his top form with them. It's probable that Rodgers doesn't see Carroll fitting into the style of football he wants.

Either Carroll will go to a club with no euro comp that is willing to match the price ie west ham or maybe even qpr as they seem to have cash to burn or Liverpool accept they won't get anywhere near the 20m+ there looking for and cut their losses and accept a lower fee
Option 3 is Liverpool keep him he's unhappy being benched most of the time and hopes Rodgers is gone by Xmas
