De ja vu for Newcastle United who have lost against Manchester United,  the second time in the last two weeks. Their first defeat came in the Capital One Cup when they lost 2-1 and now at St James’ Park in the Premier League in a 3-0 finish.

Goals from Jonny Evans (8), Patrice Evra (15) and Tom Cleverley (71) secured Manchester United three points, but the game wasn’t without its controversy as Papiss Cisse was confident he had scored in the 2nd half before being substituted off for Shola Ameobi. Replays (from some angles) show that the ball hadn’t completely cleared the line as De Gea put it clear.

Newcastle looked poor to start with and overall had just 2 shots on target from 12 attempts to Manchester United’s 8 on target from 11 attempts. Manchester United were clearly the better team across the full 90 minutes.

Sir Alex Ferguson said after the game that he was happy with his teams performance, "the concentration was terrific" and "the determination was there".

He also admitted that he would have been "disappointed" if his side had not been given a goal like Cisse's.

When asked about the game Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew said;

“There were a couple of decision which might have gone out our way” but added

“I was proud of our team

When pushed on whether he thought Cisse's attempt crossed the line, he admitted that from the replays he had seen, he didn't think it had.

Newcastle face Sunderland (a), West Brom (h) and Liverpool (a) in their next three Premier League games, but first comes another International break.
