EL: Match Preview/Stats/Thread: Club Brugge v Newcastle Utd

Newcastle United travel to the Jan Breydel Stadium tomorrow evening in the 6pm kick-off against Club Brugge. It’s been a good week for Alan Pardew’s side, who, despite having captain Fabricio Coloccini sent off against Liverpool on Sunday, managed to secure a point at Anfield.
In contrast, it has been a bad week for Club Brugge, who sacked their manager Georges Leekens and his assistant coach Rudi Verkempinck on Monday after four successive defeats.
Reserve team coach Phillipe Clement has now stepped in to coach the first team and his first challenge will come against Newcastle.
Alan Pardew is without Demba Ba (calf), James Perch (thigh) and long term absentees Ryan Taylor, Haris Vuckic and Dan Gosling all who have knee injuries. The BBC are also reporting that Jonas Gutierrez and Hatem Ben Arfa will also be unavailable through injury.
Cheik Tiote and Fabricio Coloccini are both available despite domestic suspensions and Yohan Cabaye is expected to play having previously been a doubt with a tight hamstring. Rob Elliot is also fit.
Xisco has been called into the squad after performing in recent reserves games, despite Pardew admitting he doesn’t know if he will play a part, as has Mehdi Abeid.
Clement only has 2 fully fit midfielders as part of his squad and only 18 fully fit squad members overall.

A win against Maritimo guarantees progression as group leaders. Brugge need to win both of their games for Newcastle to be knocked out of the competition.
Pretty good going, considering the experience of the players on the field for the majority of these games.
