Match Preview/Stats/Thread: Newcastle Utd v West Ham Utd

By Tyne-Talk
November 10 2012

Newcastle United host West Ham tomorrow afternoon, in the day’s only game not to be televised. The Hammers travel on the back of two wins, three defeats and a draw from their last six games, whilst Newcastle have won two, drawn three and lost one of their last six in all competitions.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is without Cheik Tiote who serves his final game of his three match suspension and captain Fabricio Coloccini, who is also suspended.

The team will take confidence in the fact that they have only lost to Manchester United and Chelsea so far this season. West Ham however, have also started well this season with just three defeats this season and go into the game a point and a position above Newcastle.

Demba Ba (calf), Jonas Gutierrez and Hatem Ben Arfa will all be recalled after a break in midweek, but Pardew has an ever growing injury list.

James Perch (thigh), Danny Simpson (shoulder), Dan Gosling (knee), Ryan Taylor (knee) and Haris Vuckic (knee) are all sidelined, whilst Shola Ameobi (knock) faces a late fitness test.

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce will field both Kevin Nolan and Andy Carroll at St James’ Park tomorrow, but James Collins (hamstring), Matthew Taylor (calf) and James Tomkins (groin) but face late fitness tests, whilst Guy Demel should be fit.

Jack Collison (knee) and Ricardo Vaz Te (shoulder) remain sidelined.

Fact: West Ham have won just 3 in their last 41 games on the road in the Premier League.

Fact: Both Alan Pardew & Sam Allardyce will be facing former clubs as the sides go head to head.

Desperately need a win today.
Just hope that we turn up.
Newcastle haven't got out of first gear this season in my opinion.
Time for the toon to step it up a notch.

Well watching that first half was like having my balls nailed to a chopping board and having my finger nails removed with a pair of pliers.
Although the latter would probably be less painful.
Well at least it looks like we're finally out of first gear, but unfortunately in now looks like were are in reverse. :/
Extremely disappointing performance for the lads, not just this game, but the whole season.

This game has been scrappy from both sides. We can get a goal in this game. Just gotta made score we don't concede any more, which may be harder than it sounds.

Woeful performance.
Doc them all a weeks wages.
Utter disappointment all around.
Never seen such a lacklustre bunch since the Daglish days.

We need to revert back to 4-3-3.
I don't care if Ba doesn't like it, it was when we played at our best.
Also, we had more players in the box because today it seemed that nobody wanted to attack the ball.
Crap display lads, sort your heads out.

What a load of rubbish.

I think our second team would have played better than that.

We always play like this on the back of a European game. We are consistently poor after a midweek performance.

I am going to the saints game in 2 weeks time (after out next europa game) and i'l be prett p8ssed off if we play like this again

We simply cannot be losing to teams like West Ham.
